Engineered bacterial siderophore production accelerates rock weathering for carbon removal

We show that bioengineered marine bacteria can dissolve olivine 2.6x faster, creating alkalinity that pulls carbon dioxide from air. But in the pilot testing climate benefits are largely offset by the additional nutrients required.
